Southern California Healthcare Outreach (SCHO) is a student-run volunteer and healthcare advocacy organization at the University of Southern California that was founded in the fall of 2019.

Community Outreach

We partner with local community organizations (churches, elementary schools, food banks, FQHCs, and more) to help educate residents of Los Angeles on health insurance.  SCHO also focuses on the USC'S Student Healthcare Insurance Plan (SHIP) and works as a resource for students with questions regarding their healthcare insurance.

Resources and Information

SCHO creates informative, easy-to-read flyers, infographics, and videos on topics such as Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Covered California. We believe that health insurance information should be accessible to all, so all of our informational resources come in English and Spanish.

Professional Development

SCHO hosts guest speaker events and seminars throughout the semester, offering its members the chance to explore current research trends and policy news in healthcare from experts in the field.

Thank you to Trojans360 for featuring us in an interview about the club's founding and our mission!

What We Do

Recently...

This past semester, we partnered with the Riverside Black Chamber of Commerce and Covered California to hold an information booth about healthcare at USC. Alongside our information booth, the Riverside Black Chamber of Commerce has also sponsored our members in becoming Certified Enrollment Counselors under Covered California, allowing us to sign people up for their desired health insurance plan directly.
